Washington, D.C. has been heavily sprinkled with sweet cupcake shops, which continue to inspire the next shop to pop up. These pretty, sugary cakes have created a definitive craze for this historical city.

Georgetown Cupcake started it. Now with its five locations in DC, Bethesda, SoHo, Boston, LA and its 6th shop opening in Atlanta, it seems as if the rest of the country has caught on. With daily and seasonal flavors, Georgetown has the right mix of keeping its ever-growing fan base interested. With its cute fondant shapes and signature pink boxes, this sugary stand is a DC staple.  Each sweet bundle is $2.75, and come in flavors such as Toasted Marshmallow, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Salted Caramel, and Chocolate Coconut.

Her empire now houses 14 locations nationwide. The greatest thing about Sprinkles is that they have mini cupcakes for the person who wants a little sugar boost without an hour on the treadmill.
