From Grunge to Glamour: Music Venues in Seattle

Lurking underneath the Denny Street overpass, on a barren, grey street lies El Corazon. If you have a morning commute that passes El Corazon, you might consider this place destitute, run-down and without any activity. Yet, it is far from that during the evenings. This small venue is a beacon of hope for many blossoming bands and young singers.

However, many seasoned local bands grace the stage here as well. Grunge is definitely the main theme at El Corazon, and although the aura is dark, the staff is friendly. However, as Seattle is known to be friendly, be ready to be thrown out if you intend on causing trouble. In general, for a low key night out with a casual vibe and good drinks, this is an ideal place to take a rock and roll lover. Their website has a great listing of shows which play almost every night with a full bar to supplement your viewing.

While El Corazon is a prime example of the underground, yet upbeat culture in Seattle, Benaroya Hall is an example of the refined and sophisticated aspect of Seattle. While I highly recommend watching a Chamber Music Concert for a more intimate experience, the large hall is perfect for an elegant night out. Red carpets, elegant beige and gold interior makes your champagne from the wine bar taste all the more delicious.

Both of these venues offer entertainment, refreshments on opposite sides of the spectrum. Since Seattle is known for it’s music, you’re also almost completely guaranteed an excellent show. With that said, choose a venue and cheers!
