Part of Chicago’s beauty resides in its diverse and emerging neighborhoods; however, the South Loop is constantly overlooked. On Wabash, near 8th street, you will find President Obama’s favorite fried chicken spot, Harold’s Chicken. [i]
Once you’re done licking your fingers, head across the street to listen to some fabulous live blues at Buddy Guy’s Legends. Be sure to Google their website to book a night when the legend himself, Buddy Guy, is performing.[ii] However, if you prefer something more technical and colorful, then the Jazz Showcase is two blocks west at 806 S. Plymouth. Don’t forget to check out concerts being held at the FirstMerit Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island, which will satisfy all of your eclectic musical tastes. If you fancy farmer’s markets, stroll over to Dearborn and Polk each Saturday morning (June 15—October 26) for a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, freshly-baked goods, and lush flowers and plants.
